Living Free

Every Christ follower should want to live a healthy life that honors God.  Each of us have areas in our lives that need to be strengthened in order for that to become a reality. The healthy areas of our lives can always be strengthened and enriched.  The unhealthy areas need to be faced and dealt with.

Living Free groups help people learn to make the good in their lives even healthier, or to face the areas of struggle and move toward freedom and wholeness in Christ.  These biblically-based discussion groups are safe and confidential.

A new session of Living Free Groups meets on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. Groups include:

Challenging Cancer: For those who are battling cancer, their families, and those connected.

Insight Group: Discovering the Path to Christian Character and Integrity

No Longer A Victim: Overcoming Abusive Relationships through Christ

Concerned Persons Group: Living with a Loved-one’s Life-controlling Problem

Stepping Into Freedom: A Christ-Centered Twelve-Step Program

Divorce Care: Support for divorced, separated, or those going through divorce

Divorce Care for Kids (DC4K): Support for Children of Divorce

GriefShare: Support for Those Who Have Lost a Loved One

Living Free begins with a brief time of worship and a testimony  in the Fellowship Hall, Building 3. We then break into our respective groups. Child Care is available for newborns through 5th grade.

The only cost to attend is the purchase of a $15 workbook (scholarships may be available). An offering will be accepted each week to help cover the cost of refreshments.

Stop by the Information Counter in the lobby for more information or a brochure. You can either sign up there, contact Gail at 239.543.2700 or Gail@FaithNFM.com, or just show up at 5:00 p.m. and get started!

Living Free

Every Christ-follower should want to live a life that honors God with holy, healthy, and hopeful living. Each of us has struggles and issues in our lives that we need to deal with in order to see that become a reality.

The purpose of Living Free groups is to assist group members along the path of freedom from their struggles, receive encouragement and support, and to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Living Free meets on Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. We begin with a brief time of fellowship, worship and sharing of a personal testimony in a large group setting, then move to smaller rooms for groups that revolve around specific issues and needs.

Living Free groups are for you, whether you want to learn how to minister to other people, or how to find freedom in your own life.

Child care is available through 5th grade. The only cost to attend is the purchase of a $15 workbook for your group (scholarships available). An offering will be accepted each week to help cover the cost of refreshments.

GROUP DESCRIPTIONS

Insight Group: Discovering the Path to Christian Character and Integrity

Insight helps each participant identify and then walk in biblical understanding of a life-issue; whether in dealing with one they may have or in knowing how to avoid them. Since most people – if not all – are dealing with some area of struggle, Insight Group can benefit any person who is open to the Lord’s working in their life.

Anger: Our Master or Our Servant: Overcoming Anger Issues

This study explores a biblical view of the emotion of anger and its potential for either evil or righteousness in our lives and shares practical steps in managing it.

Concerned Persons Group: Coping with a Loved-one’s Life-controlling Problem

This is a group for the loved-ones of a person held in the stronghold of any type of  life-controlling problem (substance abuse, eating disorder, gambling or sexual addiction, etc.). Learning how not to enable them and how to handle the consequences we suffer from another’s problem are the goals of this group.

No Longer A Victim: Overcoming Abusive Relationships through Christ

This study presents a strong message of Christ as healer for those who have walked through abusive relationships. Those who have been victims of family violence, abuse, neglect, anger, adultery, and others will find a pathway to hope and real healing through Jesus.

The Single Christian: Honoring God In Your Singleness

In a world where everyone seems to have a mate, it can be difficult to live life as a single person. This group explores aloneness and  loneliness, dating and sexual issues, as well as how to live a joyful, pure, productive, and connected life.

Caregiving: Care for Aging Parents

Provides hope and direction to those concerned about the health and well-being of aging parents or an ill spouse or relative.  Topics include The Aging Process, Honoring our Parents, Developing a Care Plan, End-of-Life Planning, Forgiveness and Reconciliation, Communication, and others.

Stepping Into Freedom: A Christ-Centered Twelve-Step Program

This thoroughly Christian 12-step study takes these life-changing principles back to the biblical foundations where they were born.  This group will help you in developing spiritual roots and steadfastness in Christ so you can confidently master the problems you encounter. For anyone who deals with drugs, alcohol, sexual addictions, gambling, co-dependency,  or addictions of any kind.

Godly Heroes: Building Faith for Life’s Battles

This verse-by-verse study of Hebrews 11 explores the characteristics of the heroes of  the Bible with application that relates these qualities to our daily experience. This faith-building study can be a tremendous help to those who are walking through major illness, loss, or other issues that can shake one’s faith.

Committed Couples: God’s Plan for Marriage and the Family

For married couples or engaged-to-be-married couples who are committed to God’s plan for marriage and family relationships. The goal is to help each couple grow in their relationships through an awareness and application of biblical principles.

Family and Friends

A support group for those coping with a loved-one’s involvement in the homosexual lifestyle. Insight, healing, and support are offered; not to change our loved one’s behavior, but for us to find a biblical way to address the issue in our lives and theirs.

Connections

God designed us to grow spiritually and emotionally through sharing life with one another. We are discipled best through connections, personal experiences, and life intersections with other believers.

We don’t want to just be a friendly church, we want to be a connected church – one where people enjoy the blessing of knowing, encouraging, helping, praying for, and enjoying one another in fuller relationships. That’s why the Connections group experience is so vital to the spiritual health of our Faith Assembly family. Connections offers opportunities for discipleship, fellowship, and prayer on a weekly basis.

Our first Connections group sessions began the week of September 12 and will conclude the week of October 31. Groups will meet primarily in homes in the surrounding area and will have fellowship, a lesson and discussion time, and a time of prayer. We’ll take a break during November and December due to the time demands of Scrooge and the holidays, then resume with a new 12-week round of groups in the new year.

Connections offer flexibility. Your only commitment is to be part of the group you join for the 8-week session. When new groups begin after the holidays, you can stay with the same group or join a new one. If life circumstances keep you from signing up for a group one time, you can join one the next, and a variety of studies are offered among the groups so you can find one that best fits your needs or interests.

Connections offer security. Though we certainly want to encourage everyone to participate as they feel led in their group experience, you’ll never be called on to pray or say or do anything that might make you uncomfortable.

If you would like more information about a Connections group near you or if you wish to sign up, contact Gail at 543-2700. Group sizes are limited, so sign-ups will close for that session once a group is full. After you’ve made your decision, your group leader will contact you with information and directions. So get connected! Use Connections for both your own spiritual growth and as an opportunity to invest yourself in the lives of others.
